Through reading, we acquire new ideas and knowledge, obtain needed information, relax the minds, and improve our command of language and vocabulary. It also serves as a good companion and provides pleasure, expand our horizons and enrich our lives. The significance of reading cannot be underestimated, since it could be considered as a window to the outside world and a precondition for success in life. One established way for building a literate nation and improving the overall reading skills is through encouraging reading for pleasure habits. The handbook, therefore, acting as a guide, is intended at assisting teachers, librarians and information professionals, reading practitioners and experts in the educational sector to promote the culture of reading among children |
