Abstract: | The United Purpose (UP), a UK international charity, in response to the need to empower cassava processors in Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana implemented the Partnership for Accelerated Local Economic Development in Brong Ahafo Project. As part of the implementation strategies of the project, UP contracted the CSIR-FRI to train women and youth in High Quality Cassava Flour (HQCF) processing, packaging and marketing in three districts of the Brong Ahafo region. CSIR-FRI team of experts trained a total of 122 participants at three processing centres (locations); Ayibge (Wenchi Municipality), Paninamisa (Kintampo South District) and Kranka (Nkoranza North District), between April 8 and 18, 2019. The participants at each of the three locations were taken through two days participatory training programme on HQCF processing and basic marketing (basic book keeping and business management). End markets for the HQCF in the training catchment areas were identified and introduced to the participants for access. Training manuals were presented to the participants as reference material to the training. Certificates were awarded to participants at the end of the training for successfully participating in the training programme |
